8. ISL Report: County Histories


    If you are on the first floor, using the materials in the Genealogy Division of the State Library, you might want to check out the collection of Indiana county histories on the second floor. These are shelved on the west side of the Indiana Division.
    Sometimes I think librarians deliberately arrange items in confusing ways just to avoid staff layoffs. If it was me, I would put these downstairs in the same county areas as the rest of the county materials. Don't you think the major users of these materials are family historians? How many regular citizens just wander in off the street and think, "I believe I'll check out the history of Putnam County today."?
