Photographs are some of our most treasured family heirlooms and play in an important role in family history research. This program will highlight the preservation challenges of caring for historic photographs and albums and offer tips for creating your own archival scrapbooks.

Jean Jacques DuFour: America’s First Winemaker, Weds., October 24, 1:00 – 2:00pm

A resident of Canton du Vaud, Switzerland in 1796, Jean Jacques DuFour and several other Swiss families immigrated to America in search of land to start a vineyard.  His travels brought him to Vevay, Indiana, where he established the country’s first successful winery.  Join us to learn more about these early Swiss immigrants.

The Indiana State Library will host the third annual Indiana Genealogy and Local History Fair In downtown Indianapolis

Clues to Researching the 1940 Census, Monday, October 29, 10:00 – 11:00am

The program on the 1940 census will describe how to search the 1940 census, what types of information are included in this census and how it compares to other census years for genealogy searching.
