112. I.A.A.G.G. Workshop, August 11

Looks like some good genealogy sessions will be on hand at the Eiteljorg Museum in a couple of weeks. A bonus is the Museum itself; if you have never been to this unique Indy location, you are missing a treat. Drop by for this two-fer event, with convenient covered parking at the State Museum right next door. What could be better!

111. Veteran's Appreciation Day, Aug. 4

Do you have a recent veteran in your family? If so, why not take this opportunity to reacquaint yourself with his or her service? Locate any documents you might have; check for photos anywhere in your family; find an artifact of that service (medals, uniforms, equipment, etc.).  See if you have all that written up in your genealogy files. Don't let that critical period in your family history be lost!
Go downtown and see what military service is all about, especially if it's not you or if it's not recent. You'll be glad you did.

110. Hoosier Heritage At The Fair, Aug. 9

If you are going to the State Fair on one day this year, might I suggest Thursday, August 9th? That's when Indiana's historical and genealogical groups will be strutting their stuff.
The all-day event is the Hoosier Heritage Day, so stroll around the booths and enjoy yourself. The Indpls. Star is supposed to have a free coupon on Monday, the 6th, to get in on Thursday--an added bonus. And I don't know about you, but I'm taking the Fair Train from Fishers--the heck with paid parking. See you at the Fair--and don't eat too much!
