296. Getting It Right On Royalty

Aren't you glad that our Revolutionary ancestors trashed all that trivia about royalty and hereditary aristocracy? I'm reminded of this every time I hear something about that soap opera group in England.
A million plus women give birth around the world every day, and we should be concerned about one couple in Europe, who never made a dime on their own in their lives. Balderdash!
Americans earn their own way in the world, and millions have risen to the top solely on their own brains, drive, and ambition. In the U.S. the natural aristocrats work their way up, people like George Washington, Frederick Douglass, Andrew Carnegie, and Irving Berlin. If Will and Kate arrived in steerage at New York harbor, do you think we would ever hear of them again? Yeah, right!
So give thanks to Sam Adams, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and all those risk-takers of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, who got rid of kings, and dukes, and all that rot. We are living proof that, for the first time in human history, they really got it right.
