329. Parker Cemetery Probe Is ON!

It looked for a while like our grave search at the Parker Cemetery in Pike Township was a no-go due to insurance problems. [See earlier Post # 321] Now we have had a breakthrough in arrangements, thanks to a creative Indy Parks staffer, Brittany Swinford. See the following email--

Dear Ron,
I know you are frustrated with all of our paperwork and policies; we just have to cover all of our bases.  I have a proposal for you:
We have a History Hike scheduled for Saturday, November 9th, at Eagle’s Crest, 10:00am-12:00pm; if possible we would like to coordinate the cemetery probing to take place during our program.  (It would be an official Indy Parks event, therefore you would not need to fill out the Right of Entry form, or carry an insurance policy).  You would be doing the probing, our Naturalist, Anne Cecere and the hikers would observe and learn.   I have already approved this with DNR; Jeannie said that you would still have to contact her about the probing.  Please let me know if you would be interested in partnering with us for this program.

Your favorite government official, Brittany

So now we are putting together a probing and exploring team, and we are inviting any interested genealogists and historians to drop by on November 9th and participate. For directions go to Find-A-Grave and view the entry for Parker Cemetery of Marion County.
Stand by in early November for updates on arrangements.
