There is a good article in today's Indianapolis Star about the dedication of a new memorial stone at the Central State Hospital Cemetery. The dedication ceremony is scheduled for Monday, June 2nd, at 10:30 am at the cemetery on Tibbs Avenue just north of East Washington Street.
Volunteers from the Indiana Medical History Museum, located nearby, researched numerous files and identified 389 burials of former CSH patients. A fundraising drive paid for the stone, with the majority of the money coming from the Flanner and Buchanan Company. Many other volunteers cleaned up the long neglected site.
Genealogists owe a debt of gratitude to all involved parties for taking care of this Indianapolis family history resource.
